Aboriginal Artist

Dennis Drill

wpe9c451be_1b.jpg

Dennis resides and works at Warmun Community, Turkey Creek, East Kimberley.  He is 35, married to Maxine Carroll (an exciting third generation Kitja painter and International Artist Tommy Carroll’s niece) and they have two children.

His mother, Shirley Drill (also an experienced ochre artist) resides at Frog Hollow Community (Wurreranginy) and is closely related to the late Jack Britten.

Dennis paints the country from Turkey Creek to Purnululu – a legacy from Jack – and has learnt the stories of this land from his mother and another prominent painter who lives at Frog Hollow, Beerbee Mungnari.

Dennis is a strong painter in method, varying his works from predominantly minimal landscape to clever depictions of rockart, a subject which is rarely painted by the ochre artists of his area.

A highly investable young artist.
