Biddy is good – ask her! She is known as one of the best woodcarvers in the region – her “magpie geese” carvings are sensational. She has the ability to carve in lifelike figure style, and “cuts in” at the bottom of the piece to depict the slim legs of the bird – something we have not seen the men attempt.
Biddy then paints the carving, as she is an accomplished artist – her medium is ochre – she lives at Marulum Community via Kununurra – she is heavily involved in Community affairs and highly respected as a strong Law Woman. No-one argues with Biddy.
It takes Biddy a long, long time to complete her carvings – she is meticulous – but what she produces is totally unique, and we are privileged to offer her works.
